How To Get Your Baby To Eat Veggies

If you haven’t had the good fortune of being brilliant enough to begin with Veggies as a first food for your little one, (much like the rest of us) then I have some ideas that might help. When I started feeding both my babies solids I began with apples and bananas. I hadn’t realized the little known trick of starting with veggies instead of fruit. If you are reading this and haven’t began to feed your baby solids yet – Start with Veggies!!!

It will save you a bit of a headache. If not, here are three simple tricks that will have you little one eating their veggies in no time.

 1. Mix with Fruit :
Yes, this sounds gross. Have you ever had a V8 fusion? They are delicious, and made with both vegetable and fruit juice. The same idea applies. There are several awesome combos that I have come up with, my favorite being carrots and applesauce. I suggest playing around with it and always doing a taste test. If it tastes awesome to you, it will taste good to baby. This is my go to for two reasons, its effective, and my little man gets both fruits and veggies in one serving. Score!

2. Yogurt! -
By month seven most pediatricians agree that baby can have some yogurt. You want to make sure to ask your pediatrician, as they know you and your baby best. You will want to get all natural Plain yogurt. My personal favorite is the Greek yogurt, but to each their own. Once your baby gets used to the taste of yogurt it will dull down the taste of anything they refuse to eat. Also, if baby doesn’t like the texture of something it helps even that out to make food smoother.

3. Oatmeal -
For first stage food babies, put putting some oatmeal cereal in a food they don’t like will very often make the taste or texture more appealing. This also work later on when you are getting into different textures. Some yogurt and oatmeal have often times saved a meal.
